13TH SMOKEFREE ANNIVERSARY
The municipality of Mabinay celebrated the 13th anniversary of
its historic smoke-free ordinance today, October 2, 2023, in a ceremony at the
Lingganay sa Mabinay stage. The private sector and employees led a parade from
Mabinay Spring to the Lingganay stage to kick off the celebration.
“Mabinay’s smoke-free law has had an enormous impact on the
health of Mabinayanons. In terms of public health, it is one of the most
important, if not the most important, ordinances we have passed in the last 10
years,” Mayor Ernie Uy said. “It has saved countless lives. I am proud of my
team to have made a public health legacy for all workers and residents.”
Every department is competing with one another for smoke-free tarps. To become the Champion of Champions, four high schools engaged in an all-day marching band competition. Hundreds of friends, family, and supporters cheered on the high school marching band students as they performed at the same location. In the afternoon, after executing its fast-paced and intricate routine with minimal errors, DepEd was announced as the champion for this year’s cheerdance competition.
