LUNHAW FESTIVAL
Mabinay is one of the towns in the province of Negros Oriental blessed with abundant agricultural resources, giving people, especially those living in rural areas, a life-changing privilege to engage in agri-business. The production of rice, sugarcane, vegetables, fruits, coconut, and many others becomes the basic income-generating activity of the people, especially the rural folks. The Municipality of Mabinay has showcased the first-ever Lunhaw Festival, a three-day celebration of Mabinay’s commitment to support the farmers of the municipality. A display of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables also made the festival opening even more captivating. Further, competitions for the Talentadong Mag-uuma, Lunhaw Queen, Pinaka, Gulayan sa Paaralan, Lunhaw Garden, and others made the festival an affair to remember. Lunhaw street dancing and showdown exhibit the farmers bodily-kinesthetic abilities. Thanksgiving services were held after a motorcade to kick off the celebrations. The farmers' fair and other events were then officially launched, and hundreds of farmers from the 32 barangays in the municipality took part. Mayor Ernie T. Uy applauded all of the team members, especially our municipal agriculturist, Mrs. Lelanie Malacapay, for making the celebration possible. Our farmers are the foundation of our economy, so they truly deserve to be honored, he added. Mabinay hosted the one-of-a-kind Lunhaw Festival on September 3, 2023. Come and take pleasure in the fact that our municipality respects producers, landowners, and farmers significantly, as we view them as the backbone of the local economy.
